Description
The Latimojong Mountains are a non-volcanic orogenic massif in South Sulawesi whose highest summit, Rante Mario (also called Buntu Latimojong), reaches 3,478 m — the highest point on Sulawesi island and one of Indonesia's Seven Summits. The standard ascent takes four to six days round trip through dense rainforest departing from Desa Karangan near Baraka in Enrekang Regency, requiring significant logistical preparation. The range is considered among Indonesia's most demanding peaks due to its remoteness, heavy leeches, cold summit temperatures, and lack of mobile coverage.
