Description
Gunung Laea ("Mount Laea") is a peak recorded in the international geographic names database (GNS/NGA, classified as "mountain") and on OpenStreetMap in Kulisusu District, North Buton Regency, Southeast Sulawesi — on Buton Island, near the village of Waculaea, whose own name echoes "laea". Its coordinates are approximate (about 4.65°S, 123.13°E), derived from an older gazetteer with rounded values. Public information on the peak is very limited: no hiking reports, official elevation, or marked trails could be found. For regional context, North Buton Regency contains the North Buton Wildlife Sanctuary (Suaka Margasatwa Buton Utara) of roughly 82,000 ha (designated by Ministry of Agriculture Decree 142/Kpts/Um/12/1979), with flat-to-hilly terrain in the 0–600 m elevation range; however, no source states that Gunung Laea lies within the sanctuary, so no such claim is made here. This entry is deliberately concise and honest about its data limitations.
