Description

Gunung Kursi (2,581 m) is one of the peaks inside the Tengger caldera in East Java, within Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. It is part of the caldera's cluster of summits together with Mount Batok, Mount Widodaren, and the far more famous Mount Bromo; it lies behind Mount Batok, close to Mount Widodaren. Compared with Bromo, the region's main tourist draw, Kursi is much quieter and rarely climbed, so route-specific information is limited. The whole cluster belongs to the Tengger volcanic system — a large caldera with its iconic "sea of sand" (Segara Wedi). Note: detailed information specific to Gunung Kursi is limited, so this summary is compiled from the sources available.
