Description

Mount Kemiri lies in Gunung Leuser National Park, Aceh, with an approach from Gumpang Lempuh. Wikipedia and EIGER give an elevation of 3,315 m, while Gunung Bagging distinguishes a 3,317 m highest summit from a lower northern summit. This is a multi-day forest expedition; Satya Winnie’s August 2017 team planned six days with guides and porters. Agree on the intended summit with the guide, as individual trip accounts do not necessarily reach the highest point.

Routes

Via Gumpang Lempuh — kamp hutan dan punggungan Kemiri

Berat / Strenuous

From Gumpang the approach crosses farmland and a river before climbing through forest camps to the upper ridge. Gunung Bagging distinguishes the upper camp from the highest summit; agree on the destination and overnight plan with a guide. This description does not confirm current access or trail conditions.

Climbing Experiences

Three sources offer different perspectives on Kemiri: Heinz von Holzen’s route account, Satya Winnie’s personal journal and EIGER’s expedition retrospective. These are historical accounts; interpret timings, camps and summit objectives in the context of each trip.
