Description

Gunung Keboranda — written Bukit Keboranda in local sources — is a limestone hill of about 200 m in Karangbolong village, Buayan district, Kebumen Regency, Central Java. Karangbolong is the southernmost village of Buayan and its only coastal one, sitting inside the Southern Gombong Karst Area; although it fronts the Indian Ocean, its terrain is dominated by hills rather than coastal plain, ranging from sea level to 240 m. Keboranda is one of the hills ringing the village settlement, alongside Bukit Padureksa (240 m), the headwater of the Manggis river. The name Keboranda also belongs to one of the village's four hamlets — Gedog, Karangbolong, Keboranda and Manggis — so the toponym is better known as a settlement name than as a hiking objective. The surrounding coast is mostly steep cliff, apart from a short sandy stretch at Karangbolong beach between two river mouths. Documentation of the hill is very thin: no trip reports, no marked trail and no freely licensed photograph could be found. Its elevation also needs care — the village source gives 200 m and a global digital elevation model returns about 208 m at the OpenStreetMap summit point, while the NGA-GNS gazetteer record behind that point carries a much lower figure that appears to be in error.
