Description
Gunung Jalik is a small forested peak in West Sumatra Province, Sumatra, sitting on the Bukit Barisan highlands (the Solok / Alahan Panjang area). Geographic databases record an elevation of about 1,922 metres above sea level, but it rises only about 9 metres above the surrounding terrain — making it more a named point on a highland ridge than a prominent summit, with a base only about 90 metres wide. The nearest higher peak is Gunung Rasam (2,565 m), roughly 8 km to the east. Its surroundings are almost entirely forested, with a cool mountain climate (mean temperature around 13 °C) and very high annual rainfall (~3,164 mm). The mountain is very poorly documented: there are no known climbing routes or ascent reports, so detailed information beyond its basic location and elevation remains very limited.
