Description

Gunung Hulu Sako is a summit of about 2,000 m (AMS topographic data via OpenStreetMap; the GeoNames database records ±2,012 m) in the Bukit Barisan range, Jangkat district, Merangin Regency, Jambi Province. Its coordinates (2.672°S, 101.965°E) lie in mountainous terrain abutting Kerinci Seblat National Park — the Jangkat area that also shelters Gunung Masurai and Lake Depati Empat. Per geographic records the peak rises roughly 474 m above the surrounding terrain with a base about 7 km wide, and the nearest higher summit is Gunung Gedang (2,448 m), about 8.8 km to the southwest; the surrounding population density is very low. No hiking reports, marked trails, or published visitor accounts were found, so this summary is limited to verified location and elevation data and deliberately invents no terrain detail.
