Description
Gunung Hulu Nilo (also spelled Gunung Hulunilo) is a roughly 2,469-metre peak in the Bukit Barisan range, within Merangin Regency, Jambi Province, Indonesia. Its name ("hulu" meaning headwaters/upper river) suggests a location in the upstream highlands of central Sumatra, at about 2.43°S, 101.78°E. It is classed as a non-volcanic mountain. Parts of Merangin Regency fall within Kerinci Seblat National Park, but the exact protected status at this summit cannot be confirmed from open sources. Documentation is very sparse and comes almost entirely from geographic databases (Wikidata, OpenStreetMap) and stub encyclopaedia articles; its routes, history and ecology remain undocumented. This page lists only what can be confirmed while honestly noting the source limitations.
