Description

Gunung Hulu Air Liki is a peak in the Barisan Mountains, within or bordering Kerinci Seblat National Park, in Merangin Regency, Jambi Province, Sumatra. Elevation estimates vary between sources: the PeakVisor database records about 1,951 m (with a small prominence of ~12 m, indicating a subsidiary peak of the surrounding ridge), while other mapping data (OpenStreetMap ~1,925 m and the Cebuano Wikipedia digital elevation model ~2,093 m) give slightly different figures. The mountain's name relates to Air Liki — a river and a remote village (Desa Air Liki) in Merangin Regency, separated only by the Air Liki River from Kerinci Seblat National Park, Sumatra's largest national park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Desa Air Liki is known as a remote hamlet with very difficult road access, and for its adat-protected fish pools ('lubuk larangan') holding semah fish. The mountain itself is not a popular climbing destination and detailed data is limited; the information here is honestly compiled from the available geographic databases and local news.
