Description
Gunung Halimun is the highest peak in Banten Province, rising to approximately 1,929 m. Straddling the borders of Bogor and Sukabumi regencies in West Java and Lebak Regency in Banten, it lies within the Gunung Halimun-Salak National Park. The name 'Halimun' derives from Sundanese for 'mist', reflecting the cloud cover that frequently shrouds its summit. The surrounding area preserves one of the largest remaining lowland tropical rainforests on Java.
