Description
Gunung Canggok — also spelled Cangah or Canggah — is a non-volcanic forested mountain peak in Cisalak district, Subang Regency, West Java, in the highlands north of Bandung/Lembang, close to Gunung Bukittunggul. Its elevation is still inconsistent across sources: the OSM node records about 1,602 m, Wikipedia states 1,659 m, and several hiker blogs and videos cite 1,685 m — no single figure is authoritative. Hikes usually start from Kampung Panyeredan or Kampung Citali, passing rice fields and the Curug Cipaok waterfall, with an alternative route via Bukit Pasir Jaka. A leisurely climb takes roughly 4–5 hours to Post 4, followed by a final 20–30 minutes along an extremely narrow ridge with steep drop-offs on both sides, so small groups are recommended because the summit is cramped. Hikers report hazards including snakes and thorny vegetation. The peak is rarely listed in major hiking databases such as gunungbagging or peakbagger.
