Best Season

Musim kemarau, sekitar Juni–September. Data iklim rintisan Wikipedia Cebuano (berbasis data global GeoNames) menyebut curah hujan tahunan sekitar 3.326 mm dengan bulan terkering September (~49 mm) dan terbasah Desember (~485 mm).

Permits & Rules

Tidak ada skema izin pendakian yang terdokumentasi. Kawasan berada di wilayah Desa Cibadak, Kecamatan Tanjungsari — pamit dan lapor ke perangkat desa atau warga kampung terdekat adalah praktik yang wajar sebelum masuk.

Hazards

Ruas jalan yang melintasi kawasan ini terjal dan rusak, berubah licin saat hujan, dengan jurang di tepi jalan dan lumpur yang bisa menjebak kendaraan. Kawasannya sepi dan jauh dari permukiman, sehingga pertolongan tidak cepat datang. Bahaya paling terdokumentasi justru berasal dari navigasi: pada Januari 2024 seorang pengendara motor dari Bekasi yang mengikuti arahan suara Google Maps menuju Cipanas malah diarahkan melintasi kawasan ini dan tersesat di hutan pada malam hari, nyaris terperosok ke jurang, dan harus dievakuasi dengan berjalan kaki oleh tim rescue Damkar Kabupaten Bogor bersama Tim SAR Gabungan Bogor Timur.

Description

Gunung Borenges is a roughly 1,013 m hill at the eastern edge of Bogor Regency, West Java, in Desa Cibadak, Tanjungsari district. PeakVisor records a prominence of about 246 m and ranks it 86th of 3,178 peaks in West Java by prominence — respectable for hill country, though far from being a major mountain. The GeoNames-derived Cebuano Wikipedia stub gives similar figures, 1,010 m with 249 m of prominence, and puts the width of its base at about 2.1 km. The surrounding landscape is mostly farmland and hills, with true mountains rising to the west; the highest point nearby is Gunung Lemo (about 1,900 m), some 10.6 km to the southwest. The region is also noted for having relatively many caves. Local people and local media call the ridge "Pegunungan Borenges", and the tracks crossing it link hamlets such as Kampung Cipicung towards Cipanas. That is in fact how the name occasionally reaches the news: on 21 January 2024 Radar Bogor reported a motorcyclist from Bekasi who followed only the spoken directions of Google Maps and ended up lost in the Borenges forest at night, on steep and broken roads in heavy rain, his bike stuck in mud, before being found by the Bogor Regency fire-and-rescue team with a joint SAR team and walked out to the Cibadak village office. It should be stated plainly that hiking data for Borenges is very limited: no official trail, basecamp or tourism operator has been found, and no government site covers it specifically. What exists so far is geospatial data (Wikidata, GeoNames, PeakVisor, OpenStreetMap) plus one local news report.
