Description
Gunung Beser is a low hill of roughly 1,035 m (per a resident account; other sources give different figures, so its exact elevation is not yet settled) in Desa Jombor, Jumo district, Temanggung Regency, Central Java. Its summit looks out over Mount Sumbing and Mount Sindoro to the south, and on clear days the north coast of Java is visible in the distance. The climb is short and beginner-friendly, with three trailheads from the villages of Jombor (main), Giyono, and Ketitang, passing coffee gardens that visitors can help harvest in season. The hill is also known for the petilasan (hermitage site) of Kyai Trenggono Kusumo and has been developed by local residents and authorities as a nature-and-pilgrimage destination. Note that this Temanggung Gunung Beser is distinct from the better-known hill of the same name in Purbalingga; formal documentation for the Temanggung hill remains limited to citizen-authored sources.
