Description
The OSM map point labelled 'Gunung Batuwangking' (a rough Landsat-derived position, tagged 450 m) almost certainly refers to the hill locals know as Bukit Batu Wangkang in Kubu district, Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan (around Ambawang / Sungai Bemban village). A summit marker on the ground actually reads 343 m, differing from the OSM figure. This forested hill is beginner-friendly: about 60% of the trail is a gentle graded, shaded path, and the climb takes roughly 2 hours, making it suitable for a day return trip (tektok). From Pontianak (about 2–2.5 hours) visitors cross the Kapuas River by motorboat at the Bintang Mas ferry, then pass through oil-palm plantations before the ascent. Near the summit stands a small Chinese temple (klenteng) still used for worship, and the top offers a tropical-rainforest panorama and camping ground. Because the OSM point's spelling and position are imprecise, its exact identity and elevation should be treated with caution.
