Description

Gunung Balebe — better known locally as Bukit Balibe, or "bawak gunung" to nearby residents — is a low hill of about 119 m (roughly 35 m of prominence) in Bonder village, Praya Barat district, Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara. It is not a climbing peak but a rock hill whose face was carved by years of stone quarrying; the abandoned workings left stepped, sculpture-like cliffs and small water-filled pits at its base, and its soil is also used as raw material for pottery. From about 2019 the spot became popular with local visitors for photography and for sunrise and sunset views: rice fields spread out below, the lights of Lombok International Airport show at night, and Bali's volcanoes can be seen on clear mornings. Access is easy — roughly 30 minutes by motorbike from Lombok International Airport, near the tourist road toward Selong Belanak — and the walk from the car park to the top takes only about 15 minutes. The hill is described as a buffer area for the Mandalika Special Economic Zone.
