Description
Gunung Adeng (1,826 m) is a dormant stratovolcano in Tabanan Regency, Bali — the island's ninth highest summit and part of the Bedugul volcanic complex alongside Gunung Batukaru and the Tamblingan lake area. Its slopes are cloaked in dense tropical rainforest rich in wild orchids and wet-forest epiphytes. Two main routes are used: the Bedugul approach (6.1 km, 4–5 hrs, starting near Blooms Garden) and a longer southern route via Pura Pucak Adeng and Pura Pucak Anyar temples (approx. 14 km, 6–6.5 hrs). The trail network is intricate and prone to confusion, making an experienced local guide strongly advisable. Leeches are a common companion on the wet forest trails.
