Description

Grigna Settentrionale, commonly called Grignone (2,409 m), is the highest peak of the Grigne group in the Lombard Prealps, rising above Lake Como in the Province of Lecco. It pairs with its lower but more jagged neighbour, Grigna Meridionale or Grignetta (2,177 m). Being close to Milan and Lecco, Grignone is one of Lombardy's most popular day peaks. Its summit hosts Rifugio Brioschi, and its routes vary: the classic approach from Cainallo (Esino Lario) via Rifugio Bogani, or the long, exposed Cresta di Piancaformia ridge from the Pasturo/Alpe di Cornisella side. From the top, the panorama opens over Lake Como, the Bergamasque Prealps, and Monte Rosa in the distance.

Routes

Cainallo → Rifugio Bogani → Rifugio Brioschi (jalur normal)

Trek gunung; sedang, dengan seksi berbatu di bagian atas
±6–7 jam pulang-pergi

The classic and most popular approach from Cainallo (Esino Lario). The trail passes Rifugio Bogani then climbs over rocky terrain to the summit of Grignone, home to Rifugio Brioschi. Long but non-technical; the upper rocky section demands sure footing.

Cresta di Piancaformia (dari Pasturo / Alpe di Cornisella)

Punggungan terekspos (EE/EEA); butuh langkah mantap, sebagian bertumpu tangan
±7–9 jam pulang-pergi

A long, exposed ridge from the Pasturo/Alpe di Cornisella side to the summit of Grignone. More challenging than the normal route due to exposure and sustained rocky ground; favoured by experienced hikers seeking a more alpine line.

Climbing Experiences

Grignone (Grigna Settentrionale, 2,409 m) is a favourite day peak above Lake Como. The classic approach climbs from Cainallo via Rifugio Bogani to Rifugio Brioschi on the summit; a more exposed option is the Cresta di Piancaformia ridge. The videos below show real experiences: trekking to Rifugio Brioschi, a winter ascent, and the summit atmosphere.
