Description
Glé Panjang ("glé" means mountain or hill in Acehnese) is a low hill about 111 m above sea level in Aceh Province, at the north-western tip of Sumatra, roughly 1,800 km north-west of Jakarta. The name "Gle Panjang" is used for more than one place in Aceh; this feature is the hill at about 5.05°N 95.37°E, near the coast. The land around it is hilly to the east but flattens to the north-west, with the sea being the nearest body of water to the south-west. The nearest higher point reaches about 308 m and lies roughly 1.4 km to the north. The area is fairly populated (around 58 people/km²) and almost entirely forested. Its climate is tropical rainforest: mean temperature about 22 °C (warmest in March at ~23 °C, coolest in August at ~20 °C) and annual rainfall around 2,686 mm, wettest in December and driest in July. Data for this feature is very limited and drawn from topographic databases (GeoNames/SRTM) and Wikidata—no climbing route is recorded, and the information here is deliberately confined to verified facts.
