Description

Fanjingshan (梵净山, 'Brahma's Pure Land'; 2,570 m) is the highest peak of the Wuling Mountains in Tongren, Guizhou province, southwestern China, and one of Chinese Buddhism's principal sacred mountains — believed to be the bodhimaṇḍa of the Maitreya Buddha. The area was made a National Nature Reserve in 1978, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1986, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2018 for its exceptional biodiversity, including the endemic Guizhou golden monkey and Fanjing fir. Its most famous icon is the Red Clouds Golden Summit (新金顶 / Xīn Jīndǐng), a soaring rock tower split in two by a narrow cleft; the top is reached by steep chain-railed stone stairs and linked by a small arched bridge, with twin temples crowning it. Modern visitors take a shuttle bus and then a cable car before climbing the final hundreds of steps. Its signature scenery is a sea of clouds engulfing the rock pillars and the gravity-defying 'Mushroom Rock' (蘑菇石).

Routes

Gerbang Timur dengan berjalan kaki — 6.600 anak tangga tanpa kereta gantung

Berat — 6.600 anak tangga menanjak; pemandangan di sepanjang jalur cenderung monoton
3–5 jam untuk naik

The option for those who want to climb the East Gate entirely on foot rather than take the 10-minute cable car. The path is 6,600 steps and takes 3 to 5 hours to ascend. Note that the scenery along this hiking path is fairly uniform — Fanjingshan's core attractions (the Red Clouds Golden Summit and Old Golden Summit) are at the top. The East Gate is also the busiest entrance, with high visitor volume in peak season requiring queueing and advance booking. The safety cut-offs still apply: no hiking up after 14:00 and no hiking down after 15:00.

Gerbang Timur — bus wisata + kereta gantung, sirkuit inti Puncak Emas (rute paling umum)

Sedang — sebagian besar berupa jalan papan dan tangga batu; kereta gantung memangkas pendakian utama
Sekitar setengah hari; jam operasi taman 07.00–15.00 dan mendaki naik dilarang setelah pukul 14.00

The route recommended for covering the core area efficiently. From the entrance a sightseeing bus takes about 20 minutes to the lower cable-car station, then the cable car carries visitors to the upper station. From there the path descends the wooden plank road on the right, then climbs the ascending plank road to Pudu Square. From Pudu it continues up to the Red Clouds Golden Summit (新金顶) and back, then on to the Buddha Worshipping Platform, up the Old Golden Summit, past the Mushroom Stone, and back to Pudu Square (Cheng'en Temple) before descending by cable car. Access to the Red Clouds Golden Summit uses a virtual queue: scan a QR code at the Mushroom Stone or Pudu Square for a number. If the waitlist is under 300 people, queue on site; if it exceeds 300, visit the Old Golden Summit first and return later. For safety, hiking up is prohibited after 14:00 and hiking down after 15:00 — visitors must then use the cable car to descend. Entrance is 100 CNY, the sightseeing bus 30 CNY one way (60 CNY return), the cable car 70 CNY one way (140 CNY return), and tickets must be booked online up to 7 days ahead under a real-name reservation system.
