Description
Dola Koyakoya (about 1,821 m) is the highest point of Alor island in Alor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, and the easternmost major peak of the island chain running from Bali toward Timor. Because it rises sharply from the sea, it qualifies as an "Ultra" with topographic prominence nearly equal to its height, making it one of the most prominent summits in the province. Its upper slopes carry eucalyptus forest and grassland that shelter numerous deer, and on clear days the summit gives views across to mainland Timor-Leste, including that nation's highest peak, Mount Ramelau. The usual route starts from Tanglapui Timur village (about 2.5–3 hours' drive from Kalabahi, Alor's main town), with a 4–5 hour ascent that can be done as a long day hike or an overnight trek with camping. Detailed information remains limited and comes mostly from hiking databases; recorded heights vary between sources (roughly 1,803–1,832 m).
