Description
Doddabetta (2,637 m), meaning "big mountain" in Kannada, is the highest peak of the Nilgiri Mountains and one of the highest points in South India — third after Anamudi and Meesapulimala. Rising about 9 km from the hill town of Ooty (Udhagamandalam) in the Nilgiris District of Tamil Nadu, it stands where the Western and Eastern Ghats meet, its slopes cloaked in a mosaic of shola forest and high-altitude grassland. Unlike many high peaks, Doddabetta is extremely accessible: a paved road brings vehicles almost to the summit, where a popular viewing tower and telescope house offer, on clear days, sweeping panoramas of the Nilgiris, tea gardens and the valleys below. Its easy access and open views make it one of Ooty's busiest tourist attractions. Fast-descending afternoon mist often closes in the views, so early-morning visits are usually the most rewarding.

Because a paved road runs almost to the summit, Doddabetta coverage is dominated by tourist and driving vlogs from Ooty up to the summit's viewing tower and telescope house. The videos highlight misty mountain roads, tea gardens, Nilgiri panoramas from the highest point, and the busy atmosphere of this popular destination.
