Description
Devil's Peak (Duiwelspiek) is a roughly 1,000 m peak forming the eastern end of the Table Mountain massif and part of Cape Town's iconic mountain backdrop. Viewed from the city, the skyline runs from Devil's Peak across the flat top of Table Mountain to Lion's Head and Signal Hill, with central Cape Town nestled in this natural amphitheatre. Though slightly lower than Table Mountain (1,087 m), it is one of the city's most popular hikes. The standard route begins at the end of Tafelberg Road and zig-zags up to "the Saddle" linking Devil's Peak and Table Mountain before a steep final push to the summit. It lies within Table Mountain National Park and rewards hikers with sweeping views over Table Bay, the city, and the peninsula. Hikers should be prepared for strong winds, fast-moving cloud/fog, and a steep final section that becomes slippery when wet.

Routes
Devil's Peak Loop (jalur lingkar)
Sedang–menantangA circular variation that reaches the saddle between Table Mountain and Devil's Peak, then climbs to the summit via one of two similar paths before descending to close the loop — giving varied views without retracing the same out-and-back trail.
SourceTafelberg Road – Saddle Route (jalur baku ke puncak)
Sedang; bagian akhir curam dan licin saat basahThe most popular and easiest route, starting at the end of Tafelberg Road (about 2–2.5 km past the Lower Cable Station). It zig-zags up to "the Saddle" — the ridge linking Table Mountain and Devil's Peak — then climbs steeply to the ~1,000 m summit with views over Cape Town, Table Bay, and Lion's Head. Carry ample water and sun protection as the trail offers little shade.
SourceClimbing Experiences
Devil's Peak is one of Cape Town's most popular day hikes. The standard route starts on Tafelberg Road, zig-zags up to "the Saddle" that links Devil's Peak with Table Mountain, then climbs steeply to the ~1,000 m summit. Many hikers chain it with Table Mountain, Lion's Head, and Signal Hill along the same ridge. Sweeping views over Table Bay, the city, and the peninsula are the main draw, with strong winds and fast-changing weather the key challenge.
