Description

Dena (Kuh-e Dena) is one of the highest sub-ranges of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, running about 80 km long with an average width of roughly 15 km along the boundary of Isfahan, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, and Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Provinces. The range has more than 40 peaks over 4,000 m; its high point is Qash Mastan (about 4,409 m). Geologically Dena lies in the Sanandaj–Sirjan structural zone and is made chiefly of Cretaceous limestone — a folded sedimentary range, not a volcano. Its annual precipitation is high by Iranian standards (600–1,800 mm), feeding springs, flower meadows, and the seasonal life of Bakhtiari/Qashqai nomads on its slopes. For hikers, Dena offers everything from single-summit climbs (notably Qash Mastan from the Khafr/Semirom side or from Sisakht) to demanding multi-peak traverses along the Zagros crest, with dramatic winter snowscapes.

Routes

Pendekatan sisi Yasuj / Sisakht dan pemayaran punggung Zagros

Sulit (multi-puncak 4.000-an m, menuntut)
Beberapa hari (tergantung jumlah puncak)

From the southwest side (Yasuj/Sisakht, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province) climbers can access the Dena range and link several of its 40+ peaks over 4,000 m along the Zagros crest. This traverse demands high stamina, long ridge navigation, and readiness for strong winds and hard snowfields early and late in the season.

Puncak Qash Mastan dari sisi Khafr / Semirom

Menengah–sulit (panjang & tinggi, non-teknis di musim hangat)
±2 hari (pendekatan + puncak, dengan kemah tinggi)

The route to Dena's high point, Qash Mastan (about 4,409 m), is often approached from the village of Khafr in the Semirom area (Isfahan Province). It climbs limestone slopes and high meadows to a high camp and then the summit. Non-technical in the warm season but long and demanding of 4,000 m+ acclimatization; in winter it becomes a serious snow climb requiring crampons and ice axe.
