- Best Season
- Musim kering, kira-kira Mei–Oktober (langit cerah, salju lebih padat)

Description
Nevado Coropuna (highest summit ~6,377 m; some climbing sources cite up to 6,425 m) is an ice-capped compound volcano in the Cordillera Ampato, Arequipa Region, southern Peru. It is Peru's third-highest peak and carries the most extensive tropical ice cap on Earth — the complex spreads over about 240 km² with several perennially snowbound cones and a number of outlet glaciers. Though still classed as dormant, it is scientifically important because its ice cap is a long-term object of tropical glaciology research. For climbers, Coropuna is a high-altitude expedition: approach by private 4x4 from Arequipa via the last town of Chuquibamba, a base camp around 5,000 m, a high camp on the moraine/ice edge near 5,500 m, then a pre-dawn summit push across the glacier. Technically the slopes are not steep (grade F–PD), but extreme altitude, remoteness and crevasse danger make it serious; acclimatization on lower Arequipa peaks (Misti/Chachani) is strongly advised.

Routes
Rute Normal — glasier sisi utara/barat laut (ekspedisi 3 hari)
Berat karena ketinggian; teknis F–PD (lereng es ~25–35°)Coropuna's standard route is a ~3-day expedition from Arequipa. Day 1: a 4x4 drive via Chuquibamba to a base camp around 5,000 m. Day 2: a trek to a high camp on the moraine/ice edge near 5,500 m. Day 3: a pre-dawn summit push up the north/northwest glacier, reaching the top in the morning before descending. It is not technically steep (grade F–PD, ~25–35° ice), but the >6,300 m altitude and crevasse danger make it serious — crampons, ice axe, rope team and good acclimatization (e.g. on Misti/Chachani) are required. Best season is May–October.
