Description

Constantiaberg (927 m) is a large, whale-backed mountain on the Cape Peninsula, about 7 km south of Table Mountain and on the southern side of Constantia Nek. It is the second-highest point of the peninsula chain after Table Mountain and is easily recognised by the tall broadcast tower on its summit. Like the rest of the range it is built of hard Table Mountain Sandstone over a granite base and lies within Table Mountain National Park, bordering the Silvermine Nature Reserve and the Tokai/Constantia valleys. Constantiaberg is one of Cape Town's most-hiked mountains: the classic route climbs from Silvermine past the landmark Elephant's Eye cave onto the ridge, while longer circuits link Silvermine, the Amphitheatre and Constantia Nek, with panoramas over False Bay, Hout Bay and the Constantia winelands. Most trails are moderate, well-marked and can be walked year-round. As a Cape Fold Belt sandstone peak it is non-volcanic.

Routes

Silvermine → gua Elephant's Eye → punggungan Constantiaberg

Sedang (jalur berpenanda dengan tanjakan bertahap dan bagian terpapar mendekati punggungan)
±3–4 jam pulang-pergi

The classic and most popular route: from the Silvermine gate in Table Mountain National Park, the trail climbs past the iconic Elephant's Eye cave and up onto the Constantiaberg ridge near the tower-topped summit. Panoramas stretch to False Bay, Hout Bay and the Constantia valley. It is well-marked and can be walked year-round; mind the Silvermine gate hours and be ready for sudden mist and wind.

Sirkuit Silvermine – Amphitheatre – Constantia Nek

Sedang–berat (jarak lebih jauh, beberapa bagian terpapar; navigasi di kabut perlu perhatian)
±5–7 jam (sirkuit lebih panjang)

A longer circuit links the Silvermine area, the Amphitheatre formation and Constantia Nek, crossing fynbos-clad slopes with shifting views to both sides of the peninsula. It suits hikers wanting a full day and varied scenery; the terrain is mostly moderate but more exposed, so weather judgement and carrying water matter. The fynbos is at its best in spring (September–November).
