Description
Cherni Vrah ('Black Peak', 2,290 m) is the highest point of the Vitosha massif that rises right along the southern edge of Sofia, Bulgaria's capital. Although 'only' the country's fourth-highest summit after Musala, Vihren and Botev, it is by far the most visited mountain summit in Bulgaria — drawing tens of thousands of hikers a year thanks to its closeness to the city and easy access. Its summit is a broad plateau holding a weather station (since 1935) that also offers shelter and hot meals, plus a Mountain Rescue Service post. The first organised ascent was recorded on 27 August 1895 by 300 tourists, a milestone in the birth of Bulgaria's mountain-tourism movement that is still commemorated. Vitosha is very windy — Cherni Vrah is the second-windiest peak in Bulgaria. Popular routes climb from Aleko (with a chairlift option) or take the longer trek from Zheleznitsa village, which links with the European long-distance E4 path.

Routes
Dari Aleko (opsi lift kursi) ke puncak
Mudah–sedang (jalur bertanda)The fastest, most popular route starts at the Aleko chalet (1,810 m) on Vitosha's northern side, reached by gondola from Simeonovo. From Aleko a marked trail climbs past the ski slopes; the Romanski chairlift can cut the distance by carrying hikers near Malak Rezen, leaving about 1.4 km to the summit plateau. Suitable for family hikers, but bring windproof layers as the summit is very windy.
SourceDari desa Zheleznitsa (jalur jauh E4)
Sedang (trek panjang, non-teknis)A longer, quieter approach from Zheleznitsa village on Vitosha's south-eastern foot (the last city-bus stop), following a marked trail that links with the European E4 long-distance route via the junction toward Golyam Rezen before reaching the Cherni Vrah plateau. It offers a full mountain day with wide views toward the Rila range and distant Musala; carry water and weather protection as the upper section is open.

The sources below document real experiences: full walking POV ascents from the village and from Aleko, drone footage over the top, and a Bulgarian-language day-hike vlog — giving a picture of the trails, the summit plateau and its windy weather.
