Description

Chaukhamba is a four-summit massif in Garhwal, India. Wikidata records 7,138 m for its highest point. Expedition reports distinguish Chaukhamba I from III and IV. The 2004 NIM attempt on III and IV ended near 6,300 m because of hazardous conditions. Deoriatal and Chandrashila provide views of the massif without climbing it.

Routes

Chaukhamba I: variasi sisi utara 2022 / 2022 north-face variation

Ekspedisi teknis historis / Historical technical expedition

Textor used a north-face variation toward the northeast ridge. He judged the original 1952 route impracticable after glacier changes; the 2022 account does not establish present access.

Deoriatal–Chandrashila: trek panorama / viewpoint trek

Trekking ke titik pandang / Viewpoint trekking

From Sari, the trek visits Deoriatal and continues through the Chopta area and Tungnath to Chandrashila. Conditions permitting, Chaukhamba is visible from the lake and Chandrashila summit. This is not a Chaukhamba ascent.

Climbing Experiences

A 2022 Chaukhamba I ascent report complements five videos covering summit III and regional views. Summit identities and viewpoint experiences are distinguished so landscape footage is not treated as ascent evidence.
