Description
Cerro Castillo (2,675 m) is a jagged basalt peak resembling a castle's ramparts — hence its name, 'castillo' being Spanish for castle — that crowns Cerro Castillo National Park in Chile's Aysén Region of Patagonia, about 75 km south of Coyhaique along the Carretera Austral near Villa Cerro Castillo. Its steep basalt walls are draped with hanging glaciers and blue-green lagoons. For most visitors the appeal is not the technical (ice and mixed) true summit but the ~50 km 'Las Horquetas' / Travesía traverse, usually done over 4 days: through lenga forest, across unbridged rivers, and over a ~1,400 m pass right beneath the main walls to Laguna Cerro Castillo with its hanging glacier. The trek is often described as a quieter but equally rewarding alternative to Torres del Paine. The first summit ascent was recorded on 10 February 1966 via the north-northeast gully.

Routes
Puncak sejati via couloir utara-timur laut
Rute harian via Estero Parada (day hike ke mirador)

Climbing Experiences
Cerro Castillo is known for the 4-day 'Las Horquetas' Travesía trek, often called a far quieter alternative to Torres del Paine. The sources below include trek vlogs, day-by-day guides, and a Spanish-language account detailing the lenga forest, river crossings, the ~1,400 m high pass, and the lagoon with its hanging glacier beneath the basalt walls.
