Description
Cadair Idris (Penygadair summit, 893 m) is an iconic mountain at the southern end of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park in Wales. Its name means 'Idris's Chair' in Welsh, referring to a legendary giant or poet; folklore says anyone who sleeps a night on its summit will wake as a poet or a madman. The massif was shaped by glaciers, leaving a dramatic cwm holding the lake Llyn Cau beneath high cliffs. Although far lower than Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), Cadair Idris is popular for its outstanding views and three classic routes: the Minffordd Path past Llyn Cau (often called the finest), the gentler Pony Path from the west, and the steep, eroded Fox's Path. On a clear day the summit gives sweeping views to the Cardigan Bay coast and the Eryri ranges to the north.

Routes
Minffordd Path (via Llyn Cau, loop)
Menengah–menantang — curam berundak, sering disebut jalur terindahWidely regarded as the finest route on Cadair Idris, starting from Minffordd in the south. The stepped, steep path climbs to the glacial cwm holding Llyn Cau beneath high cliffs, then follows the Craig Cwm Amarch and Craig Cau ridge to the Penygadair summit, and can be continued as a loop over Mynydd Moel. It offers the most dramatic lake-and-cwm scenery but is steeper than the Pony Path.
SourcePony Path (Ty Nant, dari barat)
Menengah — jalur jelas & landai relatif, berbatu di bagian atasThe most popular and gentlest route to the Penygadair summit (893 m), starting from Ty Nant on the western side near Dolgellau. The well-marked path climbs gradually across open slopes to a bwlch (col), then up a rocky final pull to the top. Though non-technical, the upper section is exposed to wind and mist; navigation matters in bad weather. It usually takes 4–5 hours round trip.

Climbing Experiences
Experiences on Cadair Idris are demanding but non-technical day hikes on three main routes. The Pony Path is the gentlest and most popular from the west (Ty Nant); the Minffordd Path passes the glacial lake Llyn Cau and is often praised as the finest; the Fox's Path is steeper and eroded. Climbers' videos show rocky ascents, the dramatic cwm, and views to Cardigan Bay and the Eryri ranges. Fast-changing weather is a recurring theme — mist and wind can arrive suddenly on the ridge.
