Description

Cadair Idris is an 893 m mountain in Wales, in southern Eryri. Its landscape includes the glacial bowl of Cwm Cau and Llyn Cau lake. The Minffordd Path approaches from the south, while the Pony Path starts at Tŷ Nant on the northern side. Eryri grades both as strenuous routes requiring fitness and navigation skills. The name Pony Path does not imply an easy beginner walk.

Routes

Minffordd Path dari Dôl Idris

Hard/Strenuous (Eryri)
9.00 km +788 m 6 jam pulang-pergi / 6 hours return

Southern approach through Cwm Cau. Eryri’s figures describe an out-and-back rather than the Mynydd Moel circuit; navigation and hillwalking equipment are required.

Climbing Experiences

Walkers compare the Minffordd and Pony paths and describe changing summit weather. Mark Horrell reports mist before continuing to Mynydd Moel and Gau Craig. The travel videos offer personal perspectives; Eryri’s official grading remains strenuous for both main paths.
