Description
Buyu Sangia is a forested summit of about 1,628 metres above sea level in the highlands of northern South Sulawesi, in the Luwu area near the high Latimojong–Balease mountain ranges. In several Sulawesi regional languages "buyu" means mountain or hill, while "sangia" is often associated with the sacred or ancestral. The peak rises about 54 metres above its immediate surroundings, has a small base roughly 0.56 km across, and lies about 12 km north-east of a far higher point (around 2,749 m) — reflecting its position on the edge of South Sulawesi's highest mountain country. According to open geographic databases (GeoNames), its surroundings are densely forested and sparsely populated, with a cool montane climate (average temperature about 14 °C) and very high rainfall — around 4,114 mm per year. Dedicated documentation of this summit is very limited: its existence, name and coordinates are recorded in OpenStreetMap and Wikidata, but there are no verifiable records of hiking routes, history or tourism. This summary is therefore basic and geographic in nature, and will be updated if a reliable local source emerges.
