Description
Buyu Balease is a 2,894-metre peak in North Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi, forming part of the Tolangi-Balease massif in the Karoue mountains. The highest point of the massif is Gunung Tolangi (3,016 m), about 2 km south of Balease, and both summits are often cited together as the Tolangi-Balease group. The mountain is extremely remote and demanding, requiring around 9–10 days for a round trip; climbers report that navigating the approach to the trailhead is more challenging than the ascent itself. The nearest airport is Palopo, served by daily flights from Makassar.
