Description

Buttu Palli is a summit in the highlands of Tana Toraja Regency, South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia, at roughly 3°04′52″S 119°41′20″E. The Cebuano Wikipedia geographic-names database — sourced from the U.S. NGA-GNS gazetteer — records an elevation of about 1,542 m; a check against the open Open-Meteo digital elevation model at the same point returns about 1,591 m, placing the peak in the 1,500–1,600 m range, typical of the Toraja mountains. The same source describes the surrounding terrain as hilly to the northwest and mountainous to the southeast. The point is also recorded in OpenStreetMap as natural=peak, sourced from NGA-GNS, and has entries in Wikidata (Q25286109) and GeoNames. The name "Buttu" (a variant of Toraja "buntu") means "mountain," a naming pattern common across the highlands of southern and western Sulawesi, as touched on in Kompas reporting about Enrekang's "Buttu Kabobong" (Gunung Nona), a stopover on the way to Tana Toraja. Note: beyond its position, elevation, and classification as a mountain, Buttu Palli has virtually no verified climbing, trail, or tourism documentation; this profile is deliberately limited to referenceable geographic facts and adds no unsourced claims.
