Description

Buttu Pakkeloang is a low summit in Polewali Mandar Regency, West Sulawesi Province, Indonesia, at roughly 3°15′15″S 119°07′12″E. The Cebuano Wikipedia geographic-names database — sourced from the U.S. NGA-GNS gazetteer — records an elevation of about 409 m, rising some 48 m above the surrounding terrain with a base about 1.1 km wide; a check against the open Open-Meteo digital elevation model at the same point returns about 406 m, so its height is consistent at around 400 m. The same source notes that the highest point nearby is Buttu Tamedingin (about 1,296 m), roughly 18 km to the west. The point is also recorded in OpenStreetMap as natural=peak, sourced from NGA-GNS, and has entries in Wikidata (Q25296571) and GeoNames. The name "Buttu" comes from the local language and means "mountain," a naming pattern common across the mountains of western and southern Sulawesi, as also seen in the local name of Enrekang's Gunung Nona, "Buttu Kabobong," explained in Kompas reporting. Note: beyond its position, elevation, and classification as a mountain, Buttu Pakkeloang has virtually no verified climbing, trail, or tourism documentation; this profile is deliberately limited to referenceable geographic facts and adds no unsourced claims.
