Description
Buttu Osim is a summit in the highlands of Mamasa Regency, West Sulawesi Province, Indonesia, at roughly 2°54′06″S 119°15′27″E. The Cebuano Wikipedia geographic-names database — sourced from the U.S. NGA-GNS gazetteer — records an elevation of about 2,045 m and classes it as a bukid (mountain); a check against the open Open-Meteo digital elevation model at the same point returns about 1,997 m, placing the peak around 2,000 m and among the higher points ringing the Mamasa valley. The point is also recorded in OpenStreetMap as natural=peak, sourced from NGA-GNS. The name "Buttu" comes from the local language and means "mountain," a naming pattern common across the mountains of western and southern Sulawesi, as also seen in the local name of Enrekang's Gunung Nona, "Buttu Kabobong," explained in Kompas reporting. The Mamasa area itself is a cool, misty highland often called a "land above the clouds." Note: beyond its position, elevation, and classification as a mountain, Buttu Osim has virtually no verified climbing, trail, or tourism documentation; this profile is deliberately limited to referenceable geographic facts and adds no unsourced claims.
