Description
Bur Kalaberut is a mountain in the Gayo highlands near the border of Aceh and North Sumatra provinces, Indonesia; the word "bur" means "mountain" in the Gayo language. Its summit stands at about 872 m above sea level according to GeoNames and the Acehnese Wikipedia. It forms part of the Barisan Mountains of northern Sumatra: the surrounding terrain is hilly to the southwest and mountainous to the northeast, with the nearest higher point reaching roughly 1,545 m about 3 km to the southwest. Its slopes are almost entirely covered in tropical forest and the wider area is very sparsely populated (fewer than two people per square kilometre). No open information exists yet on official trails, permits, or safety records; this profile is compiled from Wikidata, GeoNames, and several Wikipedia editions, so it remains preliminary and limited.
