Description
Bukit Lumut — known locally as Gunung Lumut — is a forested peak in Lebong Regency, Bengkulu province, Sumatra, Indonesia, part of the Bukit Barisan range. Its elevation is inconsistent between sources: local/climber sources and some maps give about 1,765 m, while digital-elevation-model databases record lower figures (Cebuano Wikipedia about 1,720 m; Mapcarta about 1,603 m) — the 1,765 m figure rests on local climbers' claims rather than a primary authoritative source. Wikidata classifies it as an ordinary (non-volcanic) mountain; a volcanic-status claim from one website could not be verified. Its very low prominence in GeoNames data suggests this point may be a shoulder/ridge summit rather than a prominent independent peak. Direct evidence of an ascent is limited to a resident's video documenting a climb of Gunung Lumut in Lebong. Note that several other mountains share this name in Indonesia and Brunei; this profile refers specifically to the peak in Lebong, Bengkulu (coordinates about 3°13′S, 102°12′E), not the others.
