Description

Bukit Kemanten Betung is a forested mountain peak in Jambi province, Sumatra, Indonesia, standing at about 1,717–1,729 metres above sea level according to global mapping data (PeakVisor records 1,729 m at the matching coordinates). The peak lies in the Bukit Barisan range, roughly 700 km north-west of Jakarta, in hilly, mountainous terrain with a very sparse population — fewer than two people per square kilometre nearby. The nearest higher point is recorded at about 1,712 m, just 1 km to the south-east, indicating it stands among a series of ridges of nearly equal height. The surrounding area is almost entirely tropical rainforest with a wet tropical climate: an average temperature around 20 °C and very high annual rainfall of about 3,200 millimetres. Bukit Kemanten Betung has no meaningful climbing documentation; available information is limited to geographic and climatic data from mapping databases and encyclopaedias, so the mountain is known more as part of Jambi's mountainous landscape than as a hiking destination.
