Description

Bukit Besar is a hill of about 596 m elevation in Jambi Province, Sumatra, Indonesia, rising roughly 278 m above its surroundings with a base width of around 7.3 km. It lies in a very sparsely populated area (about 9 people/km²); the terrain is mountainous to the northeast and flatter to the southwest. The climate is tropical monsoon, averaging around 23 °C with annual rainfall of about 2,761 mm, wettest in December (~312 mm) and driest in August (~115 mm).
