Description

Boundary Peak (4,007 m) is the highest point in the U.S. state of Nevada, standing at the northern end of the White Mountains in Esmeralda County, right on the California state line — only slightly lower than Montgomery Peak just across the border. The climb is non-technical: the common route from Trail Canyon/Queen Mine is a Class 2 scramble over loose scree and talus, roughly 11–13 km round trip with a steep pull to the summit ridge. Though often called one of the least dramatic state high points, Boundary Peak is still demanding due to altitude, wind, and loose rocky terrain. Climbers usually complete it in one long day, starting early to avoid afternoon thunderstorms and heat.

Jalur terpopuler dari trailhead Trail Canyon di sisi Nevada. Mendaki lembah lalu tanjakan curam di scree dan talus lepas menuju sadel dan punggungan puncak. Non-teknis tetapi melelahkan karena batu lepas, ketinggian, dan angin; sebaiknya start dini untuk menghindari badai petir sore.

Climbing Experiences

Boundary Peak trip reports describe a non-technical single-day climb to Nevada's high point: an approach via Trail Canyon or Queen Mine, a long pull over loose scree and talus, strong ridge winds, and White Mountains panoramas. Some hikers extend to Montgomery Peak on the California side. The tone is often candid — considered one of the more anticlimactic state high points — yet still physically demanding.
