Description

Ben Macdui (1,309 m) is the highest Cairngorms summit and the second-highest mountain in Great Britain. Its summit lies on a broad exposed plateau. Northern approaches start at Coire Cas; a southern circuit can include Derry Cairngorm from Linn of Dee. Dan’s account shows how cloud can lead a walker down the wrong side, requiring a return to the summit. Steve Rabone and WestCoastPeaks add northern-circuit accounts in good conditions; their personal times are not universal hiking estimates.
